Sunrise trekking on Mount Batur

Mountain Batur is an active volcano located in the middle of Bali. We organised the trip by a local friend but you can also book it in one of the tourist information centers. You will picked up round about 2 o'clock in the night so you should try to get some sleep before.That is not so easy but 2-3 hours are better than nothing. The drive from Ubud to the Mountain needs one hour and is in the end really sinuous...

After arriving our tour guide gave us flashlights and we started our adventure. In the beginning the walk was easy and you only could see some lights from other groups of tourists but then it got more steeply and in the end it is more climbing then walking and also exhausted (depends on your grade of fitness). We made some breaks to rest and collect energy.

When we reached the top it was still dark but you had already a great view above lake Batur and the area around. We were really sweaty and it was really cold so you should wear a warm jacket and maybe you should take a t shirt for changing. Our tour guide brought us warm coffee, tea and some sandwiches, eggs and bananas for breakfast.

And then the amazing sunrise starts and you can see the beautiful colors and the beauty of the nature around. It was really a unique view. After the sunrise you can also walk around the crater and if you are lucky you can meet some monkeys. The way down can be sometimes really slippery so "hati-hati" (be carefully in Balinese)!
If you decide to do this trip take good shoes, a warm jacket and motivation! This will be a really good experience, for sure..!
