Tirta Gangga Bal

Bali has many nice things to see. One of the most beautiful places to see is the water palace Tirta Gangga near Tenganan. Tirta Gangga is like a big garden with beautiful waters and places to relax.
Tirta Gangga is located in the rice fields northwest of Amlapura. The palace of Tirta Gangga was built in 1948, in a combination of Balinese and Chinese styles.
King Anak Agung Anglurah Ketut built it and he was the last king of Karangasem. The king and his family used the palace to relax and it was also a meeting place for important people.
Now it is used as a place to take a bath and swim.

Tirta Gangga literally means water from the Ganges. The holy water is only used for ceremonies and temple festivals. The palace of Tirta Gangga is not a real palace anymore, it is more like a garden with Balinese statues, fountains and five basins with Koikarpers. For a small amount you can swim in two of the basins. The first one is the basin were the king always was swimming and the second one is were the housekeepers were swimming. Of course there are no Koikarpers in that basin.

There are some small bridges at the palace where you can take nice pictures on. It is also a good place for a romantic photo shoot.

There is a restaurant, not so big, at the palace of Tirta Gangga where you can drink delicious ice coffees. If you don’t like ice coffee there is of course also something else.
