Getting lost is not a waste of time

On Friday the 31st of January, the Balinese were celebrating Chinese New Year. This is why the school was closed and we had a day off to enjoy the Island.
Here on Bali you can rent a motorbike for cheap, which is about €30 a month. This motorbike will take you to any place you want to go! So we decided to take a drive up to the east coast and visit the idyllic white beaches of Padang Bai. This should have been a one hour drive, through small villages and rice fields. So we packed our map, local directions and a bottle of water, not to forget the sunscreen, and started our journey. Nevertheless, on our first crossroad, we already got lost. This is mostly because Bali doesn't do road sign; many good ingredients to have an exciting adventure!
What should have been an hour drive, became an endless roadtrip through the mountains and small "desas" of 3 hours. Eventually we succeeded our goal and reached the most beautiful beach! White sands, blue sea, fresh coconuts, some reggea music and nasi goreng, we had a perfect day off.
